Description
The name seahorse comes from the Greek hippokampos: hippos (horse) plus kampos (sea monster). The genus has 46 species, moves through water upright and slowly, and is one of the few animals where the male carries the young. Ancient in name, quietly mythological in shape, charming in every form.
